What You'll Need

To Make 1 Serving:
  • 1/4 Cup Grits
  • 1 Cup Water or Milk
  • Dash of salt (optional)
To Make 4 Servings:
  • 1 Cup Grits
  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt (optional)
To Make 6 Servings:
  • 1 1/2 Cups Grits
  • 6 Cups Water
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt (optional)

What You'll Do

1 Slowly stir grits and salt into briskly boiling water.
2 Reduce heat to low; cover. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
Microwave Preparation (1 Serving)

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 Cup Grits
  • 1 Cup Water or Milk
  • Dash of salt (optional)

What You'll Do

1 Combine water, grits and salt in 2 cup microwave-safe bowl; stir.
2 Microwave on HIGH 3 to 4 or until thickened when stirred.
  1. Microwave ovens vary in power, cooking times may need to be adjusted.
  2. Serve with any of the following: margarine, butter, cheese, red-eye gravy or as a hot cereal with milk and sugar.
