Tips for Breakfast in Bed

What better way to show people you care than to pamper them by serving breakfast in bed? Try these simple tips the next time you want to surprise someone special.

  • Timing is Important

Breakfast in bed isn’t much fun if you don’t have time to leisurely enjoy it. So if you decide to serve breakfast in bed to your husband or child, pick a day when they will have plenty of time to eat their breakfast and savor the experience.
  • Make it a Surprise

One of the key ingredients of a successful breakfast in bed is to make it a surprise for the intended recipient. Try to make some preparations, such as chopping ingredients or laying out the bed tray the night before. This will help keep noise to a minimum in the morning and minimize the chances of waking up the recipient while you are working.
  • Presentation is Everything

You can make breakfast in bed a truly memorable event for your loved one by putting a little extra effort into the presentation. Add some freshly cut flowers in a vase, use nice plates and silverware and a cloth napkin to put the perfect finishing touches on the breakfast tray.
  • Be Creative

If you are serving someone breakfast in bed on their birthday or anniversary, tuck a card beneath the plate. For an added touch, sprinkle confetti or flower petals around the serving tray, as well.
  • Include your Kids

Kids love surprises so why not include them in your next secret mission? Have them help get the ingredients, arrange the tray, and pour the juice. They can also help create cards or other decorations to adorn the breakfast tray. Just be sure to tell them that their mission is top secret and to keep the giggles to a minimum!
  • Be Practical

Eating breakfast in bed requires balance and a steady tray. A bed tray is preferable, but if you don’t have one you can also use a serving platter, television tray, or a large cutting board. To dress it up, use a decorative placemat or cloth napkin. Also be sure to put any items that might spill, such as pancake syrup, in a container with a lid.
